Fastest
Non-Motorized Human Sport ON Earth
I have competed in the sport of speed skiing for 12 years, professionally for the last five. Internationally I am ranked 14th out of 100 professional racers. During the summers, I am cross training for ski racing while operating my water-ski school in Lake Tahoe, California. For the last 10 winters I am based in Europe and more recently in VARS, France near the famous "La Grave" extreme ski resort. Vars Ski Resort is host to one of the Speed Ski Pro Tour stops in Europe. Besides being one of the largest and fastest tracks on the circuit, this resort offers a unique racing advantage in that a competitor can train daily on The local World Record capable Speed Ski track. The Current World Record is an awesome 152 MPH set in 1997 at VARS Ski Resort. My Personal record that day was set at 145 MPH only 7 MPH off the World Record. The difference then was that of my hi-speed confidence and experience, something I have since addressed in training. Speed skiing for about ten years, with 6 years on the US Speed Ski Team, resulted in a lot of experience that has evolved into a formidable professional quest for speed. The following is a short version of my Speed Skiing experience and Career -to- date, and my future goals; In 1987 I joined forces with Several other top organizing racers and helped pioneer F.I.S. and Olympic Committee involvement. With the big speed ski tracks and the 92 Olympics scheduled in France, it was the right Sanctioning body to follow. For six consecutive years, from 1988 until 1993 I was an "A Team" member of the United States Speed Ski Team. In 1993, after F.I.S. political situations and the lack of a suitable speed track for the 1994 Olympics in Norway, the racers leaned toward professional careers to pay the bills. 1994 through 1998 I have been instrumental in, co-founding and competing in the present International Professional SpeedSki Tour that has operated with a consistent annual growth. To date world records have fallen with a safe and exciting tour. Crowds gather for each tour stop and the press has its field day. The 1999 Pro Tour consists of 5 stops:
I am seeking
sponsorship On a long term basis, I am involved with future Pro Tour
organizational assistance, and I have co-organized a youth ski program presently in
operation. Covered extensively by the media, Several top pro's teach calculated safe
approaches, and are rewarded daily by our youths enthusiasm and amazing accomplishments.
This project will take me through the next decade with the young speed prospects that come
to the camp in ever increasing numbers. MEDIA
Currently, I am representing my two man Team in our search for 1999 sponsorship; myself and my serviceman who handles the waxes, the skis, the video, the data processing, the travel and the shipping chores. What we offer is quite a bit of media exposure throughout the 1999 Pro Tour season, most significantly the European Extreme Games called the "MAD MASTERS GAMES" in VARS, France televised by ESPN and EuroSport. The Madd Masters Games has included Speed skiing in its vast array of alternative sports, and the excitement is growing!! SPONSORSHIP CONCEPT: speed sells!! It is my job to seek sponsors and explain the sport of Speed Skiing, and the unique relationship available to a prospective sponsor.
